The Greater East Tamaki Business
Association Inc has been formed to enable the commercial owners
and occupiers of the Greenmount and East Tamaki areas to have a
say in the promotion and development of the area in which they work.
With East Tamaki being the fastest growing commercial area in Auckland
it is imperative that the commercial community are involved in the
development of the area.

Some of GETBA's recent successes are:
- The
Association has excellent liaison with the Otara and Howick Police
and therefore good support from the Minister of Police. This
has
culminated
in a joint effort to organise an Association-wide security plan
- The
Association successfully lobbied for a reduction in waste water charges equating to a saving of $2,500 per business over 4 years
- This
Website gives members a chance to showcase their products and
services
- The
Association's lobbying ensures that the council is realistic with
the rates burden it places on local businesses
- Regular
breakfast meetings that keep members up-to-date with local issues
and provide networking opportunities
- Insight Seminars available to members on topics
deemed to be of interest to members.
- Substantial
pillars on the Association's geographical boundaries now define
the Association area
Overall Philosophy:
To act in the best interest of all
business in the area, to promote the area, have a voice in the development
of the area, and to attract new business into the area.
Specific Aims:
- To endeavour to get a fair proportion
of Council money ie. rates into the area
- To create an environment attractive
to new business
- To have regular contact with council
and councillors to ensure we know what is happening in the area
and to let them know what we want to happen
- To improve the infrastructure
of the area ie. services such as roading, water, gas, safety,
street signage etc.
- To ensure that the third crossing
of the estuary goes ahead
- To put forward submissions to
the council on the proposed Development Plan
- To encourage development of the
Waiouru peninsula
- To create a networking environment
of business within the area.
